Leading lines aim to guide a viewer's gaze along lines within a photograph in order to draw attention toward and along the subject matter and other important details. These lines may be physically present within a photograph, or implied by the repetition or locations of objects within an image. The face of the vulture above contains plentiful wrinkles and interesting edges, which serve as leading lines to guide the viewer's gaze. Similarly, attention is drawn to the otter below as a result of ripples in the water and its linear body.
